Recent Shock

Last night while having
dinner withe the staff of a Japanese mens fashion
magazine I heard
news that shocked me deeply. Recently many special people, well known celebrities, and
big stars have been passing away one after the other. People pass away every day and
we morn them pay our respects and keep it moving.
My shock comes from not from knowing that a special person has passed, but from not
knowing that a special person that I knew personally had passed away after losing a fight with
cancer that they had been battling publicly! This person was the type that you would think
would live forever, really tough, powerful, and energetic, so news of her passing was extremely
surprising !
I really wanted to be there to say whatever you say at that moment. I met her in New York a
long time ago at a photographer friend's home, we became friends and met occasionally
in Tokyo. All though we didn't really hang out a lot there was a simple pure human friendship that
existed.
She gave me this T shirt,
I don't know why I never opened the T-shirt that she gave me, maybe it was because the
message that she wrote on the plastic envelope and the image of the shirt inside together became
a work of art . I thought about wearing the shirt in her honor but I think it is better to leave the
two pieces that make a special artwork, together.
Kaori-chan, Thank You
May you Rest in Peace
